Letter from the Director

Guten tag, welcome and hello!

Thank you for your interest in KinderHaus. We are a small preschool with an important mission: To cultivate your child’s intellectual and social growth while developing his/her language skills and cultural awareness. KinderHaus provides San Francisco with a program geared to empower children to speak confidently and discover their worlds in German.

Our curriculum is rooted in a free-play concept that enables ample opportunities for growth and development. Themes of study emerge from the teachers’ observations of the children’s play, the cycles of nature, and special topics that arise from the children’s interests and needs. We focus on facilitating children’s interactions with their peers in a respectful way while developing courtesy, compassion, self-esteem, self-confidence and self-reliance.

KinderHaus emphasizes a structured approach to learning new subjects through activities such as singing, performing arts, community celebrations and traditions, and crafts projects.

For added variety, classroom exercises are complemented by frequent field trips within the city.

Children who join KinderHaus will not only grow intellectually and socially, but also will find our school to be a safe and welcoming place. We are proud of our low teacher to child ratio, which is currently five to one. It enables our experienced, well-trained and certified staff to give lots of love and attention to all our children.

Although our linguistic focus is on the German language and culture, we are guided by the principles of diversity and embrace children of all backgrounds to our school.

Upon leaving KinderHaus’ unique program, they go off into the world equipped with the tools needed to support life-long learning and to express their individuality with a solid foundation in the German language.

We look forward to getting to know you and your child.

Mit freundlichen Gruessen,
Rose Shannon
